- CLEAN sells! Make certain every space in your house is worthy of the "white glove test"! Cleanliness projects the image of a well-maintained home to buyers. And don't forget to wash the windows! No matter how clean the interior of your home is, it will lack sparkle if the windows don't. Pay attention to the exterior of your home, too, as it will make that all-important "first impression" on your buyers. Be sure the landscaping is attractive and the beds have fresh mulch or stone. Make sure that the exterior of your house is in good repair and inviting, house numbers, lights, and distinguishing features are fresh and clean.
- LIGHT sells! Buyers are attracted to natural light in a home. Remove any heavy draperies or window covering, or any other obstruction (such as overgrown shrubs or bushes outside) that may be impeding the flow of sunlight.
- UNCLUTTERED space sells! We want potential buyers to be able to see themselves in your property. Removing personal photographs will help. Also remove excess decorative items or furniture that may be obstructing buyers' views of your floors, walls, and windows. These are the things the buyer will be purchasing, and we don't want personal items (i.e., items they will not be purchasing) to distract them from the space your house offers. Also, for safety's sake, don't forget to place any valuable items and personal paperwork out of view.
- SPACE sells! This is what buyers are purchasing! Maximize the perception of space in your home by removing all but essential items from each room. And don't forget to check closets, bathrooms, linen storage areas, and kitchen cabinets! Begin packing for your move to your new home by removing any non-essential items now! This can simplify your packing process after your house sells!
